The International SIG business plan has been received by the CIEH Forum - while the budget cycle will not produce a final result until October/November, there were no major challenges or concerns about the funding request at this stage.

The International Interests Special Interest Group (SIG) aims to encourage individual CIEH members to actively engage in international environmental health. CIEH Council has agreed that an International Interests SIG can be established and has provided a small budget to enable members to be recruited.

Visiting Commonwealth Fellow (Hosted by CIEH, East Midlands Region), Principal Health Officer, Lira District, Uganda
John Nelson Opio will be talking about his work in Northern Uganda with displaced people and refugees. The event is of particular interest for those involved in international public health, environmental health and social justice. It will provide extra support to those of you studying public health at undergraduate and postgraduate levels as well as people with a wider interest in global health and social justice issues. Students from Derby University will also join us.
